Ohio University is the oldest public institute of higher learning in Ohio and has been ranked first in the amount of student competitive awards earned by its students. The Gladys W. and David H. Patton College of Education and Human Services within the university is the home of the first kindergarten and public teacher preparation program in Ohio. The M.Ed.
