Milwaukee Area Technical College is a public institution with more than 57,000 full- and part-time students among four branches: Milwaukee, West Allis, Mequon and Oak Creek. About 70 percent of students take classes part time and about 10,000 receive financial aid each year. The school offers 200 certificate, technical diploma and degree programs, the most of any Wisconsin technical college. Among these are automotive technology, banking, nursing, computer electronics technology, dental hygiene, fashion marketing, logistics and meeting and events management. A bilingual program provides courses in Spanish for non-native English speakers. Through the college's service learning program, students can receive course credit for completing volunteer work and community service projects. The school has seven intercollegiate sports teams and more than 60 clubs and organizations on campus.

Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College provides programs for more than 8,300 northwestern Wisconsin residents. The college has branches or community learning centers in Ashland, Hayward, Ladysmith, New Richmond, Rice Lake, Shell Lake, Spooner and Superior. The school offers 55 associate's degree and certificate programs, including more than 4,500 credit courses a year. Less commonly taught programs available to Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College students include agricultural power and equipment technology, bricklaying, wood technics, dairy herd management, mechanical design and motorcycle, marine and outdoor power products technology. The college says about 75 percent of its students receive financial aid. Each campus has clubs and organizations for students.

Mid-State Technical College serves central Wisconsin at campuses in Adams, Marshfield, Stevens Point and Wisconsin Rapids. The college has 11,000 students. The college offers a satisfaction guarantee program for graduates; if a graduate's employer thinks her skills are lacking after 90 days of employment or if a graduate cannot find employment within six months, the college will provide up to six credits of free re-training. About 50 certificate, diploma and associate's degree programs are offered. Among these are less commonly taught subjects such as farm operations, urban forest technology, judicial reporting, biomedical informatics, biorefinery technology and renewable thermal energy technology. Numerous online and television-based classes that deliver lectures on video are available. The college offers scholarships and work-study programs in addition to federal and state financial aid.
