Community Colleges in Appleton, Wisconsin

The state of Wisconsin administers many junior colleges and technical institutes including the Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton. It has 16 districts in which it provides vocational, technical and adult education services. Every community in Wisconsin that has a population of more than 5,000 can have an industrial education board to oversee the state's educational services and open its own vocational school. The state also has 13 university centers.

    • Fox Valley Technical College on North Bluemound Drive in Appleton is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. It received the Wisconsin Forward Award in 2001 and an award for excellence from the Continuous Quality Improvement Network in 2002. It serves Calumet, Outagamie, Waupaca, Waushara and Winnebago counties. FVTC was established in 1911 and was the nation's first vocational and adult education system. The college's annual enrollment is 47,000 and about 2,000 career program students graduate each year. It offers more than 200 types of degrees, diplomas or certificates in 18 fields of study. The school has 349 instructors as of 2011. Besides the Appleton campus, FVTC has an Oshkosh Riverside campus and five regional centers.

    Globe University

    • Globe University on West College Avenue in Appleton is a technical institute that offers degrees in business, health science, information technology and legal science. Its business degrees include business administration, accounting management, sales and marketing. Its health science degrees are for medical assisting, veterinary technology, massage therapy and health care management. Its IT degrees can be for web development, networking, security or database administration, and its legal science degrees are for paralegal and criminal justice.

    Martin's College of Cosmetology

    • Martin's College of Cosmetology has been an Empire Beauty School since 2007. Students learn both in a classroom setting and with hands-on training in student salons. Martin's uses the Empire Beauty training program and it has specialized programs for students wanting to become teachers of cosmetology and esthetics. It is accredited and operates throughout the year at five Wisconsin locations: Appleton, Green Bay, Madison, Manitowoc and Milwaukee. The school is approved to offer Title IV financial assistance.

    KUKA College Fox Valley

    • KUKA College Fox Valley on Tri Park Way in Appleton specializes in robotics programming and is administered by KUKA Robotics Corporation. Students must register for classes two weeks in advance and the tuition is paid at the time of registration. Training courses begin at 8 a.m., end at 5 p.m. and are held Monday through Thursday. Mechanical classes comprise two 10-hour days.
