Racine, Wisconsin, is a waterfront city overlooking Lake Michigan. Though Milwaukee, located 22 miles north of Racine, is well-known for its many colleges, Racine is also home to several accredited colleges, four-year schools and junior colleges. Racine also has several public parks, an art museum and a host of waterfront activities.
  1. Upper Iowa University

    • Upper Iowa University of Racine offers many bachelor's degrees, including in accounting, art, criminology, emergency and disaster management, science and teacher education. The university also offers minors in subjects such as exercise and sports studies, history, graphic design and Spanish. The university also grants an associate of arts in liberal arts or general business. The graduate school grants master's degrees in education, business administration, public administration and high education administration. The college grants certificates in several subjects, as well. The athletics department has tennis, basketball, baseball and other sports available for students.

    Midwest College of Oriental Medicine

    • The Midwest College of Oriental Medicine in Racine is a founding member of the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. The college has three major departments: nutrition and oriental medicine, acupuncture and oriental medicine, and a combined MSOM/BS program. The MSOM/BS program grants graduates a master's of science in oriental medicine with a bachelor's of science in nutrition. Student's can choose from either the full or part-time program. Students at this college will see patients at the college clinic as part of their training.

    Gateway Technical College

    • Gateway Technical College, in Racine, offers more than 65 associate majors. In addition to traditional majors, this college also offers degrees in the culinary arts, diesel equipment technology, horticulture, interior design and judicial reporting. The school facilitates apprenticeship programs for students of cosmetology, bricklaying, carpentry and others. The college's Adult Learning Center runs programs in English as a second language, GED testing, fundamental college skills and basic computer skills.

    Carthage University

    • Carthage University is located just outside of Racine, in Kenosha. It is a four-year college with six academic divisions: social sciences, natural sciences, interdisciplinary studies, humanities, fine arts and education. Graduating students must complete a minimum of 138 credits, including core coursework in modern language, understanding of religion, symposium and global heritage. Carthage promotes study-abroad partnerships with several international colleges, including institutions in Argentina, Costa Rica and Peru.
