Borough of Manhattan Community College was founded in 1963 as a business college for the local New York City business community. As of 2010, BMCC serves 25,000 students each year and is partnered with the City University of New York system. Degree programs offered by BMCC include associate degrees in science, arts and applied science in 27 disciplines. Special programs offered by BMCC include English immersion, a Study Abroad program, pre-freshman immersion and accelerated study. Students also have the option to take classes online or participate in evening and weekend classes.
LaGuardia Community College is located in Queens, New York, and is a City University of New York partner. Founded in 1968, the school is named for Fiorello H. LaGuardia, New York City's New Deal mayor. LCC offers 50 degree programs and three certification programs. Non-degree educational programs offered by LCC include English as a Second Language (ESL) and GED preparation.
Queensborough Community College was established in 1958 in Bayside, Queens, New York. With enrollment of 25,000 students, QCC is an extremely diverse school with an almost equal population of Caucasian, Asian, Latino and African American students. Programs of study at QCC include Associate in Art degrees in Education and Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Associate in Science degrees in Biotechnology, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Engineering Science, Health Sciences and more. Certificate programs include Computer Systems Information, Photography, Medical Office Assistant and six others. Accelerated study programs and English as a Second Language (ESL) training are also available.
Bronx Community College was established in the borough of Bronx, New York, in 1957. The school has a very diverse population with many students speaking English as a second language. Students at BCC can choose from dozens of Associate degree programs in Applied Science, Art and Science. Students also have the option of selecting seven certification programs including Paralegal Studies, Automotive Mechanic and Licensed Practical Nursing. Other student services include men's and women's athletic programs, a student health and wellness center and early childhood care.
