Boone County, located in central Missouri, is the eighth most populous county in Missouri. The seat of Boone County is Columbia, the fifth largest city in Missouri and home to the flagship campus of the University of Missouri, the largest university in Missouri. Boone County is also home to the Missouri Theatre Center for the Arts, the True/False Film Festival and the Roots N Blues N BBQ Festival. In addition to the University of Missouri, Boone County is also home to other colleges.

    • The University of Missouri is the largest university in Missouri, with an annual enrollment of over 32,000 students. The University of Missouri is only one of six public universities throughout the United States to have a medical school, veterinary school, engineering school, agriculture school and law school on the same campus.     • Columbia College was originally established as Christian Female College in 1851. Columbia College offers more than 30 associates and bachelor's degrees in a variety of programs, including business administration, education and criminal justice.

    Stephens College

    • Stephens College, located in downtown Columbia, is the second oldest women's college in the United States that is still a women's college. The theater program at Stephens College has been ranked as the second-best theater program in the United States.     • The Moberly Area Community College serves about 5,000 students in northeastern Missouri. The Boone County Campus of the Moberly Area Community College is located in downtown Columbia at the Parkade Center. The Columbia Campus of Moberly Area Community College offers classes in a variety of programs. Additionally, the associate of arts in teaching program, as well as the associate of applied science in computer information technology and early childhood development programs are located at the Columbia Campus.
