Colleges in Kirkville, Missouri

Kirksville sits in northern Missouri and is easily accessible to State Highway 6, State Highway 11 and U. S. Route 63. The small city allows swimming at the Kirksville Aquatic Center and tee-time at Kirksville Country Club and Golf Course. The small town is also a college town with three places to receive higher learning. Kirksville offers a state university, a private college and a community college.

    • Truman State University (TSU) is the only liberal arts four-year public institution in Missouri. The university offers bachelor degrees and master degrees. The classrooms are small with 16-to-1 student-to-teacher ratio. TSU is a Tier 1 institution that ranks no. 8 on the "America's Best Colleges" in Regional Universities (Midwest), compiled by the U.S. News and World Report's 2011 Edition. The university features the School of Arts and Letters, School of Business, School of Health Sciences and Education, School of Science and Mathematics and School of Social and Cultural Studies and Interdisciplinary Studies. Some concentrations available include communication, education, biomedical studies and agriculture and health professionals.

    Private Institution

    • Andrew Taylor Still, M.D., D.O. established the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1892. The institution is the first osteopathic educational institution in the nation. The four-year private college awards a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine and Master of Biomedical Sciences. The university is one of the top medical schools in the country.

    Community College

    • Kirksville Higher Education Center is a division of the Moberly Area Community College in north Missouri. It is a two-year public institution that awards various associate degrees, including an Associate of Arts in Teaching and Associate of Applied Science in Drafting Design Technology, Computer Information Technology, Early Childhood and Graphic Arts. The institution does not have housing.
