North Florida Music Colleges

North Florida is home to a number of music colleges which offer various degrees and atmospheres. Different schools can provide students with different opportunities based on the school's size, resources and individual programs. Although in the same relative geographical area, the music colleges in Northern Florida all have different experiences to offer.
  1. Jacksonville University

    • Jacksonville University, located in Jacksonville, offers multiple degrees with varying concentrations including a Bachelor of Music, a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and a Bachelor of Music Education. Among the concentrations offered are music business, performance, composition and theory, and music theater. A member of the National Association of Schools of Music, Jacksonville University features a year-round concert program as well as multiple vocal and instrumental performance groups.

    Rollins College

    • Rollins College, located in Winter Park, offers a music education in both the instrumental and vocal fields. Various concentrations are available including music education, music history, music theory, music technology and music performance. A member of the National Association of Schools of Music, the school attracts visiting artists who provide master classes and presentations to the students throughout the year.

    Stetson University

    • Stetson University, located in DeLand, offers the resources of a larger university but the music department itself only contains about 200 students. Degrees offered include a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Music Education, and a Bachelor of Music with concentrations available in performance and in theory and composition. The first music school in Florida, Stetson University offers a range of student ensembles and also attracts respected guest performers who participate in its recital series.

    University of Florida

    • The University of Florida's School of Music, located in Gainesville, offers Bachelor's of Arts, Bachelor's of Music, Master's of Music and Doctorate degrees. The School of Music is home to about 200 undergraduate and 75 graduate students each year. A member of the National Association of Schools of Music, the University of Florida has 40 full-time and four part-time faculty.

    University of North Florida

    • The University of North Florida, located in Jacksonville, offers a Bachelor of Music Education, as well as Bachelor of Music degrees in both performance and jazz studies. Begun in 1972, the Department of Music is an accredited member of the National Association of Schools of Music. Both vocal and instrumental concentrations are available. University of North Florida music students regularly tour both nationally and internationally, and the University's Great American Jazz series enables its students to perform alongside today's esteemed jazz artists.
