Austin Peay State University is a public school located in northwest Tennessee in Clarksville. The university is just an hour away from Nashville, also known as the Music City. Austin Peay State's Department of Music offers Music Performance and Music Education majors, with emphasis on guitar, vocal, keyboard and instrumental. There is also a Music major with Liberal Studies, as well as graduate programs to prepare students as performers and educators. The department has 32 full-time and adjunct faculty and a large state-of-the-art facility that was completed in 1990. The department's 600-seat concert theatre is considered to have the best acoustics in the southeast United States.
