Degrees and certification are available in aircraft operations, air traffic control, accident investigation, aviation instructions or research, and airframe and power plant certifications. Further flight training can be accomplished by attending an FAA-approved aviation flight school.
The Dowling College School of Aviation in Shirley is located at Brookhaven Airport on Long Island. The college features three Frasca flight simulators and a fleet of Piper aircraft. Dowling also received $5 million from NASA to construct a ground-level simulator of airport systems, roadways, terminals and taxiways, including offices and work centers for airport personnel. Degree programs include research and study in management, flight, mathematics and technology for entry into all areas of the air transport and aerospace industry.
