New York Christian Colleges

New York is home to four Christian colleges, all accredited institutions with rich histories and a commitment to providing quality education with a Christian worldview. Programs include those comparable to that of secular universities, such as liberal arts and sciences, as well as more specific areas of study that prepare students for a life dedicated to the Christian ministry.
  1. Davis College

    • Davis College in Johnson City is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education and has sought to better educate Christian women and men since 1900. Undergraduate degree programs include an Associate of Applied Science in Bible/Theology and an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education Administration. Bachelor's programs offered include a Music/Worship Leader program, as well as Bachelor of Religious Education degrees in Counseling, Christian Ministries, Youth Ministries and Teaching English as a Second Language. Athletic programs include basketball and soccer.

    Nyack College: College of Bible and Christian Ministry

    • Nyack College has locations in New York City, Rockland and Nyack as well as Washington, D.C. It was founded in 1882 by Dr. A.B. Simpson, a man recognized as one of the foremost figures in the American missionary movement, according to the college's official website. Programs are organized by school, such as the School of Music, School of Education and School of Business and Leadership. Undergraduate study programs at the College of Bible and Christian Ministry include an Associate of Science in Christian Work, a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical and Theological Study and a Bachelor of Science in Christian Education.

    Houghton College

    • The eponymous Houghton College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the Regents of the University of the State of New York, and is a member of the National Association of Schools of Music, according to the official website. It began as a Christian seminary school in 1883 before its eventual transformation into a Christian liberal arts college. Programs include art, biology, biochemistry, theology, writing and economics. Christian-centered programs are offered, such as biblical studies and religion and ministry, which further includes sports ministry and urban ministry.

    Roberts Wesleyan College

    • Roberts Wesleyan College, in Rochester, is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools as well as the National Association of Schools of Music and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The school was founded in in 1866 by B.T. Roberts, who gave up a career in law for the ministry. Undergraduate programs include biblical studies, business administration, chemistry, liberal arts and music education. Graduate programs are also available, including a Master of Music in Education.
