VA & Military Approved Schools

Current and former United States military members have a right to educational benefits through the G.I. Bill, which assists with paying for a college education or job training programs. Finding an approved college or university is the first step in furthering your education, and you can find these military-approved schools across the country.
  1. University of Idaho

    • The University of Idaho is located in Moscow, IA, and offers programs in agriculture, education, law, art, engineering, business, science, letters, arts & social sciences, natural resources and graduate studies. The university is accredited by the Northwest Commission on College and Universities. The college of education is also accredited by the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education, and the college of business and economics is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. A student recreation center offers rock wall climbing, two gyms, an indoor running track and a weight training area. Over 200 organizations are available for students to join, including academic, sports and community service clubs. This is a G.I. Bill-approved university.

    Duke University

    • Duke University, in Durham, North Carolina, is an approved G.I. Bill university. Duke University Trinity College of Arts & Sciences offers undergraduate degrees in areas such as chemistry, dance, mathematics, psychology, art history and women's studies. Duke University School of Nursing offers a master of science in nursing, accelerated bachelor of science in nursing, and doctorate of nursing practice degree programs. The Fuqua School of Business at Duke has degree programs including an MBA and PhD. Those interested in engineering can go to Duke's Pratt School of Engineering and work toward an undergraduate degree in mechanical, civil or biomedical engineering. Graduate masters and PhD degree programs include a master of engineering and master in engineer management.

    Louisiana State University

    • Louisiana State University, located in Baton Rouge, is another school approved for the G.I. Bill. LSU School of Veterinary Medicine is accredited by the American Veterinary Medicine Association and offers a professional DVM program for students wishing to become a veterinarian. At the LSU College of Art & Design, students can work toward a degree in graphic design, art, art history, interior design, architecture or landscape architecture. LSU College of Education has undergraduate, graduate and focused degree programs for students interested in going into the field of education. There is also a College of Music and Dramatic Arts at LSU with degrees available in music and theater.

    Wisconsin Lutheran College

    • You can use your G.I. Bill to get an education at Wisconsin Luthern College in Milwaukee. This four-year liberal arts college offers undergraduate programs in areas such as education, media design, coaching, art, environmental sciences and studies, history, pre-med, pre-dental, nursing and biochemistry. A master of arts in education program is available for educators through a 36-credit degree program to help them build leadership skills and advance their professional careers. Two on-line degree program are available as well, where students can complete a bachelor of arts in business management and leadership or master of arts in education.
