Founded in 1938 by photographer Severo Antonelli, the Antonelli Institute is located in Glenside, Pennsylvania -- a suburb of Philadelphia. According the Antonelli Institute website, the school was founded to train professional and military photographers. Currently, training is provided in portraiture, advertising, photographic lab work and freelance photography.
The photography program at Drexel University blends traditional processes with digital technologies in fields such as photographic illustration, photojournalism, fashion and fine art photography. Drexel's photography degree plan allows students to choose their own course path to pursue during the senior year. The first three years of study are identical for all photography students.
La Salle University offers a digital arts and multimedia design program that focuses on creating, modifying and printing digital images using various software applications. Although this is not specifically a photography degree plan, it does include the study of digital photography and other photography-based skills in digitized form. Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania -- roughly 65 miles from Philadelphia -- has a similar bachelor's degree program for graphic and interactive design.
