Computers And Schools

Hospitals, big and small businesses, schools and even homes have access to computers, so it is apparent that computers play a big part in society. Computers help to prepare students from primary school all the way to university. From kindergarten, with basic educational games, to word processing programs for teenagers, computers are an integral part of today's learning environment. As well as being necessary for students, computers are an important tool for staff in educational settings.
  1. Early Learning

    • Allowing kids to use computers at a young age in school improves their typing skills plus improves their computer knowledge. This helps prepare kids for future education and work opportunities in later life. According to the California Research Bureau (CRB) computers and internet access are frequently being used in California's kindergarten through 12th Grade schools.

    Games

    • Although you will not find games on the top of the list of a school curriculum, educational computer games can still provide a more fun and exciting way for kids to learn at school. As stated by the Using Computers In School website, interactive educational games are made to help kids understand reasoning while solving entertaining problems.

    Research

    • It is becoming less possible for students to participate in schools or in the workplace without good computer research and technical skills. Learning to research competently and come up with questions, organize and identify information and come to conclusions is important. The internet gives students in school the chance to research on a wide range of topics at a fast pace and discover reliable sources.

    Administration

    • Student and teacher records, grant funding, staff pay, course records, equipment and more can be maintained in an administrative capacity on school computers. According to the California Research Bureau (CRB), good results have been achieved when computers available for teachers are networked, replacing paper-based methods with electronic communication.
