Culinary and Vocational Schools

A vocational school is a viable alternative to going to a university for many people. Vocational schools offer students the opportunity to learn a trade and work in a hands-on approach in the classroom. There are many options available for vocational degrees and schools, and culinary schools fall into this category.
  1. New York's French Culinary Institute

    • New York's French Culinary Institute offers students training in French cooking in a 600 hour long program. The program can be done in either six or nine months, depending on how many hours a week the student wishes to attend school. This program covers the basics and classics of cuisine and pastry making. The school also offers a 240 hour course lasting eight weeks on the art of bread making. The Institute also offers opportunities to take advanced classes such as restaurant management and the fundamentals of wine.

    Kitchen Academy

    • The Kitchen Academy offers students an accelerated learning opportunity as they go through their culinary education. Students have the opportunity to be in a job placement position within thirty weeks of beginning their education. They also have internships available for students in popular restaurants and hotels. While at the Kitchen Academy, students will learn everything from using a knife properly to menu making to cutting meats properly and team leadership.

    UCW Academy of Health

    • The UCW Academy of Health is a vocational school located in Surrey and Victoria, British Columbia. The school offers students a chance to get a head start on their careers in the medical and health fields through degrees such as practical nursing, dental office administration and community health care.

    triOS College

    • The triOS college is located in Ontario in several different cities. This vocational school offers degrees in business, health care and technology fields. The programs last between thirteen and ninety four weeks.
