The Churchill Scholarships award students seeking to undertake a year-long course of graduate study in the sciences, engineering or mathematics at the University of Cambridge. Fifteen students at participating institutions will receive scholarships of $44,000 to $50,000, as well as an additional living allowance. Students must first apply for admission at the University of Cambridge, then submit an application through their local campus representative. Each campus representative may nominate up to two people for the award per institution.
The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships seeks to award undergraduate students pursing a course of study abroad. To be eligible, students must be enrolled at a 2- to 4-year college and have received a Pell Grant. This program favors students studying languages on the Critical Need list, or those who are studying abroad in areas outside of Western Europe and Australia. Students will need to submit an application form and copies of their college transcripts. Over 1,700 $5,000 awards are available.
The Robert B. Bailey Scholarships are available to minority students who feel that they have been underrepresented in study abroad programs. Applicants must write an essay on how they feel their group has been underrepresented, how this has affected their choice in study abroad programs and how they plan to apply their study abroad experience. Students pursuing summer programs are eligible for awards of $500, while those pursuing year-long and semester programs can receive awards of $1,500.
The Youth Writing Scholarships are available to high school students who plan on studying abroad through an Intrax study abroad program. Applicants must write a short essay on one of the provided topics. Six scholarships are available. As a condition to receiving their scholarships, students must maintain an ongoing blog about their study abroad experiences.
