Intel has a scholarship program that rewards individuals who show promise via a science research project. The scholarship is typically awarded to computer and software engineer majors. The schools also reap the benefits because all semi-finalist students win $1,000 for their schools. First place winners are awarded $100,000 in paid tuition. Scholarship amounts then drop to $20,000 and then decrease from there to $1,000. There are 300 winners and the top 10 finishers also win a free laptop. Intel suggests that participants start their science project as early as their freshman year.
