The Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority awards merit scholarships through its Educational Advancement Foundation to students with proven academic success. Educational Advancement Foundation merit scholarships are awarded to each student one time, for one year only, in the amount of $750 to $2,500. Interested students must complete an application package that demonstrates how they meet merit scholarship guidelines. The Educational Advancement Foundation encourages current, full-time, undergraduate students in at least their sophomore year and graduate students to apply for a merit scholarship if they have a minimum 3.0 GPA and are actively involved in their communities.

Youth P.A.C. Scholarships in the amount of $750 to $1,500 are available to undergraduate college students that are at least in their sophomore year and are members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Youth Partners Accessing Capital Scholarships are awarded to help "promote healing, nurturing, learning and uplifting of youth by assisting in developing lifelong learning skills." Business savvy and humanitarianism skills will provide a foundation for students to make an impact in their respective communities and the black community at large. Students interested in applying for a Youth P.A.C. Scholarship should submit a completed application.

Individual school chapters of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. may develop and distribute scholarships of their own. The purpose of chapter scholarships varies according to the needs of the community where the chapter is based. The Theta Zeta Omega Chapter, located in Mississippi, awards scholarships to high school students. Theta Zeta Omega awards three $1,000 and two $500 scholarships to "seniors graduating from public high schools along the Mississippi Gulf Coast in Harrison and Jackson Counties."
