The State Nursing Scholarship and Living Expenses Grant is offered to graduate level nursing students by the Maryland government. In order to qualify, students must be Maryland residents, have parents who are Maryland residents, have at least a 3.0 GPA, be enrolled full-time in a accredited Maryland college or university and be pursuing a course of study that will eventually lead to employment as a nurse. Additionally, students must sign a contract that says they will work as nurses in an eligible Maryland institution on a full-time basis for each year that the scholarship is granted. The award amount is between $3,000-$4,500 per academic year.

The Maryland Legion Auxiliary Past Presidents Parley Nursing Scholarship is available to Maryland residents who are the descendants of ex-servicemen or women. Students must be pursuing a career as a registered nurse and must submit a three hundred word essay on why they want to become nurses. The award amount is $2,000.

The Maryland Nurses Association offers the Mae Muhr Master's Student Nursing Research Poster Award to graduate nursing students who make the best posters describing their interest in becoming nurses and their various academic accomplishments. Additionally, students must be sponsored by a registered nurse who can attest to the aspiring nurse's commitment to the profession. The award amount is $500.

The University of Maryland School of Nursing offers several different merit-based scholarships to both graduate and undergraduate nursing students. The selection committee considers the student's admission material to determine if a merit scholarship is appropriate.
