The Maryland Higher Education Commission sponsors the Graduate Nursing Faculty Scholarship and Living Expenses Grant for graduate nursing students. The program provides students enrolled in graduate nursing programs at accredited Maryland colleges and universities with a combination scholarship and grant that covers both tuition and living expenses while enrolled. Selected applicants may receive up to $13,000 per year in scholarship funds and $25,000 per year in grant funding. Scholarship awards are granted on the basis of academic achievement, while grants are awarded based on individual financial need. Applicants must be offered the scholarship to be considered for the grant program.

The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners sponsors a research grant program that provides funding to nursing students who are pursuing a doctoral degree at an accredited college or university. Grant awards of $2,000 are available to current AANP members who are completing a capstone research project or a dissertation research thesis. Applicants are also required to be licensed nurse practitioners and have a minimum 3.75 GPA to be considered. Student research projects must focus on some aspect of the role of nurse practitioners in health care today.

The Midwest Nursing Research Society (MNRS) and the Council for the Advancement of Nursing Science (CANS) offer a joint grant program for nursing dissertation research projects. Grant awards of $2,500 are available to doctoral nursing students who conduct their dissertation research in any area that contributes to nursing practice. Projects may be completed in any specialty area that is relevant to nursing science, and applicants must be members of the MNRS and the CANS to be considered.
