The California Teachers Association offers several different annual scholarships to students who are pursuing degrees in education. The Ed Romeo Student CTA Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $300 to undergraduate students enrolled at a four-year college or university. The Future Educator SCTA Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $200 to undergraduate students attending a community college. The SCTA Ethnic Minority Scholarship is available to students of minority ethnicity, and is valued at $250. Students must be student members of the CTA in order to qualify for CTA scholarships. Most CTA scholarships require the submission of a 400-word essay. The application deadline for most CTA scholarships is in March.

The Illinois Federation of Teachers offers two student scholarships. The Carl J. Megel Special Education Scholarship is awarded annually in the amount of $1,000 to a graduating senior who is the child of an IFT member, and who has received special services during their schooling. The IFT Robert G. Porter Scholarship is awarded in the amount of $6,000 to two graduating high school seniors every year who plan to attend four-year universities in Illinois. In additionally, the Chicago Teachers Union offers the Thomas H. Reece Memorial Teacher Education Scholarship every year to a student pursuing a master's degree in education, in the amount of $2,000.

The American Federation of Teachers offers scholarship funds to graduating high school seniors through the Robert G. Porter Scholars Program. Robert G. Porter scholarships are awarded in the amount of $8,000 distributed over four years. Students must be children or dependents of a current member of the AFT in order to be eligible. Award recipients are expected to maintain a grade-point average of 2.75 or above. The annual application deadline is in March.
