Ph.D. Business Scholarships

Many students interested in business and accounting go on to pursue doctoral degrees in order to teach business at the collegiate level, or to attain a career in government finance. There are a variety of professional organizations and private foundations that offer scholarships for Ph.D. candidates in different branches of business.
  1. Lagrant Foundation Scholarships

    • The Lagrant Foundation provides scholarships for students of minority ethnicity who are pursuing graduate degrees in business. These scholarships are awarded in amounts of up to $5,000. In order to be eligible, students must be pursuing a business degree with a concentration in public relations, advertising, or marketing, and must be a member of one of these ethnic groups: Hispanic or Latino, African American, Native American or Native Alaskan, or Pacific Islander. Applicants must also be a permanent resident or citizen of the United States in order to be eligible for Lagrant Foundation scholarships. The minimum GPA for prospective graduate applicants is 3.2.     AICPA Accounting Doctoral Scholars Program

    • The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants offers financial support to Ph.D. candidates pursuing degrees in accounting through the Accounting Doctoral Scholars Program. This program offers an annual stipend of $30,000 for up to four years of study. In order to be eligible, a student must have a minimum of three years experience in public accounting, and must be committed to teaching accounting at the university level upon graduating from a Ph.D. program.     GFOA Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship

    • The Government Finance Officer's Association offers scholarship funds to graduate students pursing a Ph.D. in business through the Frank L. Greathouse Government Accounting Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded annually in the amount of $5,000 to a student who is planning to pursue a career in state or local government finance. Students must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States or Canada in order to be eligible, and must be enrolled as a full-time student.
