Scholarships for Latino High School Students

There are multiple college scholarship opportunities available exclusively to Latino high school students. One resource that can help in your search is the Latino College Dollars link on the Tomas Rivera Policy Institute website. Latino College Dollars has a list that can be searched by state, GPA, timeframe and other criteria to help high school students find funding for college and university courses.
  1. Gates Millennium Scholars

    • Since 1999, The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has been supporting the higher education of Latino high school students. Gates Millennium Scholars helps these and other minority students attend college through substantial grants. Each year, they award grants to exceptional high school students who have a GPA of 3.3 or higher. GMS is committed to assisting Latino students in financial need to gain access to higher education. The award amount varies, but in 2010 GMS awarded 1,000 scholars good-through-graduation scholarships

    General Motors Scholarship Fund

    • General Motors has partnered with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund to offer Latino high school students financial assistance. Students must be interested in pursuing a degree in business or engineering to qualify. To qualify, students must be of Hispanic heritage, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and be seeking enrollment at an accredited U.S. college or university. Students who are eligible receive $2,500 award each year.

    Telemundo Scholarship Program

    • Latino students who are living in San Francisco, Dallas, Houston, or Los Angeles can apply for The Telemundo Scholarship Program. Each year they grant awards that range from $1,000 to $5,000 to high school seniors who are planning to attend a two- or four-year U.S. university. Students will be considered if they have at least a 3.0 GPA and fill out the FAFSA, or free application for federal student aid.
