Many of the schools that offer classes or a major in music business have needs-based scholarships, which are based on a student's particular financial situation. It's important to check which schools offer these kinds of scholarships either by calling up the school's financial aid office or researching their website. In most cases a student will have to fill out a FAFSA (free applicaiton for student aid) form that will inform the schools of the financial aid they can offer a particular student.
Other schools have merit-based scholarships that are awarded based on specific criteria related to academic performance, aptitude, or an application and interview process. For example, NYU Steinhadt, one of the most prominent music business schools in the country, has needs-based as well as merit-based scholarships at the school.
The ASCAP foundation, an organization of music publishers, offers a variety of music industry scholarships. For those who want to pursue careers in music performance within the industry, ASCAP offers scholarships to potential jazz, musical theater, publishing, and songwriting students. Applications are available through their website and procedures to apply vary from one scholarship to another.
