The Latin American Women's Association North Carolina chapter provides financial assistance to female university students of Hispanic origin through its LAWA Women's Scholarships. The amount of these awards varies. In order to be eligible, a student must be of Latino origin, female and 25 years or older. Eligible students must be pursuing an undergraduate degree and must live in certain areas of North Carolina. These scholarships are renewable, provided that a student passed her last class with a grade of B or above. Interested students should visit the North Carolina LAWA website for more information.

The organization Hispanic Women in Leadership (HWIL) makes scholarship money available to female Hispanic students who plan to attend a college or university in the state of Texas. The minimum award amount is $500. In order to be eligible, a student must be a graduating high-school senior and must be in the top fourth of her class. HWIL scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement, leadership skills and financial need. The annual deadline for application is May 1. The Chicana/Latina Foundation (CLF) makes scholarship money available to female students of Hispanic or Latino origin who are attending a college, university or community college in Northern California. Approximately 30 scholarships are awarded per year, in the amount of $1,500. Both undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for this award. Undergraduate students must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5 in order to be eligible, while graduate students must be carrying a minimum GPA of 3.0. Additionally, a student must have lived in Northern California for a minimum of two years at the time of application. She must also commit to the two-weekend-long CLF Leadership Institute and 10 hours of volunteer service for CLF if she receives the scholarship. The annual deadline for application is May 19.
