College Scholarships for African American Boys

A university degree can open many doors, leading to promising careers, strong salaries and a better life for those coming from disadvantaged backgrounds. While the cost of attending college continues to rise, African-American males have many scholarships available to them courtesy of generous groups and individuals who wish to support their academic dreams and goals.
  1. Call Me MISTER Scholarship

    • To increase the number of African-American men in teaching, the Call Me MISTER Scholarship (Mentors Instructing Students Toward Effective Role Models) provides financial assistance to those studying education. The scholarship seeks to "increase the pool of available minority male teachers from a broader more diverse background," according to the program's website, and provides financial assistance at approved colleges (among them Clemson University, which oversees the program) in addition to academic and social support.
