College Scholarships for Mothers

Being a mother is hard. In recent years, the definition of being a mother has changed. In the past, women were expected to stay at home with their children and forsake an education or career. With the advent of numerous charitable organizations and need-based scholarship programs, it is increasingly easy for mothers to pay for their educations. There is a lot of available monetary assistance for single mothers in particular.
  1. The Jeannette Rankin Women's Scholarship Fund

    • Since 1978, the Jeannette Rankin Foundation has awarded more than 500 scholarships to less-fortunate mothers in search of a way out of poverty. The scholarship is available to any mother over the age of 35 with a desire to change her life for the better through education. In order to be considered for the scholarship, a mother must show that she has a vision and clear idea of how getting an education will improve the lives of herself and her children. Mothers generally receive $2,000 scholarships each school year.
