The Blacks at Microsoft Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors of African descent who plan to pursue undergraduate degrees in engineering or a related field at an accredited college or university. Scholarship awards of $5,000 are granted to students who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership skills and a passion for technology. Applicants must have a minimum 3.3 GPA to apply and be able to demonstrate financial need. Scholarship awards may be renewed up to four years for a total of $20,000.

The National Organization of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers offers several fellowship award programs for African American chemical engineering students at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. Students must be enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited chemical engineering degree program and must meet individual elgibility criteria for each award. Award amounts range from $1,000 to $30,000 plus full tuition and a stipend.

The American Instititue of Chemical Engineers sponsors two scholarship programs for African American students who are either currently enrolled or planning to enroll in a chemical engineering degree program at an accredited college or university. Scholarship awards of $1,000 are available to students on the basis of academic merit, career interests and goals, financial need and participation in AIChE student activities and programs.

The National Society of Black Engineers sponsors approximately twenty-four scholarship programs for African American students who are enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited engineering degree program. A number of the scholarships are offered in cooperation with major corporations such as Toyota, Lockheed Martin and General Electric. Opportunities are available at both the undergraduate and graduate levels and scholarship awards range from $500 to $7,500.

The National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering sponsors the At-Large Scholars Program which scholarship awards to second-, third- and fourth-year African American engineering students at selected universities. Awards are granted on the basis of academic achievement, financial need, community service and leadership skills. Awards range from $2,500 to $4,00 and individual award amounts are based on the recipient's grade point average. Awards are renewable for up to three years.
