Computer Science PhD Scholarships

Scholarships for Ph.D. students in computer science often come from science and engineering institutions. Some scholarship programs provide full tuition coverage plus educational expenses and health insurance in exchange for working at the organization after graduation. Others do not require service upon graduation but do have mandatory practicum stipulations so that students gain additional experience during the summer. Additionally, institutional scholarships will sometimes cover Ph.D. students' tuition and expenses plus provide a living stipend.
  1. Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship

    • In 1997, Dr. Anita Borg founded the Institute for Women and Technology. After her death in 2003, it was renamed the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology. During her life, Dr. Borg worked to break down obstacles that prevent women and minorities from pursuing careers in computers and technology. Google's scholarship in her honor is for women who are full-time students at a U.S. university in programs in computer science or computer engineering. Students must have at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale or a 4.5 GPA on a 5.0 scale. The award is worth $10,000 for one year, and eligibility extends to citizens, permanent residents and international students.
