Educational Grants for Vietnam Era Veterans

A variety of educational grants and scholarships are available to assist Vietnam-era veterans who are returning to college. Many educational grants for Vietnam-era veterans are also available to the spouses and dependents of Vietnam-era veterans. There are several sources of scholarships for Vietnam veterans, including veterans' associations, state educational funds and individual institutions of higher learning.
  1. The Mike Nash Memorial Scholarship Fund

    • Vietnam Veterans of America provides scholarship assistance to Vietnam-era veterans and their families through the Mike Nash Memorial Scholarship Fund. Mike Nash Memorial Scholarships are awarded in an unspecified amount and are non-renewable, although past recipients are eligible to apply again. To be eligible, a student must be a current VVA member or be the spouse, child, grandchild or stepchild of a VVA member or deceased Vietnam veteran. The annual deadline for application is May 31.     North Carolina Vietnam Veterans Scholarship Program

    • The College Foundation of North Carolina provides scholarship assistance to Vietnam Veterans from North Carolina through the North Carolina Vietnam Veterans Scholarship Program. North Carolina Vietnam Veterans Scholarships are awarded in amounts that range from $500 and $1,500 and may be used to pay for the cost of tuition, fees, textbooks or room and board. To be eligible, a student must be either an awardee of the Vietnam Service Medal or the spouse, child or grandchild of a Vietnam Veteran. Stepchildren and adopted children are also eligible. In addition, a student must be a current resident of Durham County, Wake County, Harnett County, Lee County, Franklin County, Nash County, Chatham County, Johnson County or Granville County and must be pursuing an undergraduate degree. The annual deadline for application is the last day of February.

    Central New Mexico Community College Vietnam Veterans Scholarship

    • Central New Mexico Community College in Albuquerque provides scholarship assistance to Vietnam-era veterans through the CNM Vietnam Veterans Scholarship. The CNM Vietnam Veterans Scholarship pays for the full amount of a student's tuition, as well as all required textbooks. To be eligible, a veteran must have been awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and must have been a resident of the state of New Mexico for a minimum of 10 years. Spouses and direct relatives of Vietnam Veterans are not eligible for the CNM Vietnam Veterans Scholarship.
