How to Make an Advent Handprint Wreath

The holidays are a fun time to celebrate being together and doing good deeds for one another. Many households use Advent calendars to eagerly count down the days until Christmas arrives, and young children all know that Santa is watching them. To celebrate family time and practice good deeds, create a keepsake Advent handprint calendar with your children every December.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut the center out of a paper plate. Make sure there is one paper plate for each child in your household, and make the plate resemble a wreath shape.

    • 2

Trace your child's hand onto a piece of green paper, then cut out this design 24 times. With your children, think of good deeds to write on each handprint. Place each child's handprint collection into an envelope or paper bag.

    • 3

Ask your children to pick a hand from their individual piles on December 1. Assist the child in reading the good deed, then carrying out the good deed. Once the deed is complete, the hand may be glued onto the paper plate wreath. Continue to pull good deed hands out of the piles until December 24, when the wreath should be full.
