Consider your life and think about the things that you would like to accomplish. You might want to get married, find a better job, or even get all As in school. Make a short list of at least five things that you would eventually like to achieve.
Separate the goals and write each one at the top of a piece of paper. On each piece of paper, write where you currently are at the bottom of the paper. For instance, if the top of your paper says "Get all As for the school year," the bottom of your paper might say "Three Cs and one D." Do this for all of the long term goals you have set.
In between the goal at the top of the paper, and your current state at the bottom, list a series of steps that can carry you from the point you are to the point you should be. Write these in order of what you would need to do, from the bottom of the paper upward. For instance, on your goal sheet about grades, you might write things like "Talk to teacher about why my grade is so low," "Turn in all past assignments," "Turn in future assignments on time" and "Study for tests in advance." This provides you with a practical list of how to get from where you are to where you want to go, for each of the goals that you have.
