Cut a perfect 3-inch diameter circle out of dark orange construction paper for the bee's head.
Cut an oval out of dark orange construction paper that is 3 inches wide and 6 inches long for the bee's thorax.
Cut a third oval for the bee's abdomen out of orange construction paper. The abdomen will be 3 inches wide and 12 inches long.
Glue the head, thorax and abdomen together by overlapping the abdomen and thorax by 1/3 of an inch. Then glue the head to the thorax so that the head overlaps the abdomen by 1/3 of an inch.
Cut two teardrop shapes from white construction paper to make wings for your bee. The fore wing should be 11 inches long. The hind wing should be 8 inches long.
Glue the wings into position on the thorax of the bee so that the smaller wing is under and behind the larger wing.
Shape the antenna and legs for the bee out of pipe cleaners. Since your bee is viewed from the side, you will make one antenna and two legs.
Glue the antenna and legs to the bee's body.
Draw in eyes, wing veins and a stinger with a black magic marker.
Draw bands of color around the lower half of the bee's abdomen and thorax with a brown magic marker.
Glue bottle caps to the rear leg of the bee to make a pollen basket.
When the glue has dried, place a cotton ball in the bottle cap to represent pollen collected in the bee's pollen basket.
