How to Make a Paper Indian Bow

Bows are not only a significant part of world history, but are also an attractive form of weaponry. Over thousands of years, people have used and developed the bow and arrow to suit their needs for both hunting and warfare. The purpose of the bow is to act as a lever for the arrow, and thus must be very durable and powerful. Including a bow in a paper display can be a great visual aid for your history lesson.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw out the shape of your Indian bow on the brown construction paper with a pencil. Consider making it to the actual size that a real bow would have been. Most bows will have a straight for the string, and that will be connected at either end to a crescent shaped limb that makes the bow itself. Include details for aesthetics and functionality.

    • 2

Cut out the entire bow shape with the scissors, being careful not to cut through the thinnest part of the design, such as where the string meets the bow.

    • 3

Draw details on the bow with your black marker. Consider adding details with three-dimensional pieces, such as beads and feathers.

    • 4

Affix the paper Indian bow to a bulletin board or other display with glue or tape.
