Cut a pair of 2-inch-thick strips of brown construction paper and tape the ends of the two strips together to make one extra-long strip. Measure the strip around the head of the wearer, hold it in place with two fingers and secure the strip into place using tape. Cut off the excess paper, if necessary. For larger heads, three strips may be necessary.
Draw zigzag and circle designs on the side of the brown strip opposite the taped seam. Gather craft feathers in a variety of colors and line them up in order from largest to smallest.
Lay the construction paper headband on your work surface with the front of the band pointing toward you and the taped seam away from you. Choose the tallest feather and tape it to the seam side of the band, directly in the center front.
Continue taping feathers to the inside of the paper band that taper in size from the center in both directions until you reach the back seam of the headband.
Punch a hole approximately 4-inches from the center front of the band on the both the left and right sides. Cut two 6-inch pieces of yarn and tie one into each hole.
Thread three pony beads onto each piece of yarn and tie the end of each piece of yarn to the pointy end of a craft feather. Wrap a piece of tape around the knot connecting the feather for added security.
