How to Make a Daily Infant Sheet for Daycare Purposes

A daily infant sheet is something that all professional and responsible daycare providers should use. This sheet is a list of activities, foods, diapers and naps that happened to each child that day. Not only does this sheet provide helpful knowledge for the parents when they come to pick their children up, but it is a way for the teachers to keep track of each baby. With these kinds of sheets, everyone will be aware of who has eaten what, who had their diaper changed and how long each child napped.

Instructions

    • 1

Draw a blank line at the top of the page and write "Child's Name" next to it.

    • 2

Make an eating section. This can include breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, depending on what is generally served at your daycare and should have a "Yes or No" column to indicate whether or not the child ate. If you have young babies who are only drinking bottled formula, leave a space next to each row to fill in how much of his bottle he drank. If the babies are old enough to eat food, then leave a space next to each meal to fill in what they ate.

    • 3

Make a diaper section. This should have a few rows, depending on how many hours the children are in your care, and can say "Diaper 1," "Diaper 2," etc. Next to each diaper, you can fill in whether it was simply a wet diaper or a dirty one and what time you changed it. This will also indicate to you and to the parents how many diapers you changed.

    • 4

Make a nap section. This can consist of two rows and say "Nap 1" and "Nap 2," if necessary. Leave two blank lines next to each nap to fill in the start and end times of each nap or to write that the child did not nap that day.

    • 5

Make an activities section, if desired. This can be left open-ended with a few blank lines where you can fill in anything exciting that happened that day. This can also be the place where you write if the child did something new, such as take a few steps or pronounce a new word.

Photocopy this sheet and fill one out daily for each child.
