Choose your font from your word processing software. Avoid flashy fonts for projects that will be read by a professional audience. If, however, your project is geared toward children, then less traditional novelty fonts may be appropriate.
Create a title appropriate for the audience and the project. For example, if the project is a science project, write a straightforward title that gives direct insight into what the project is about. If it is a more creative project, your title should reflect this.
Center the title a third of the way down the page from the top. Use a font slightly larger than the primary font chosen for the title page. Apply the font in bold.
Print your name, address or class information in the lower left corner of the page. If required, type the name of the school in the lower corner as well. For a business report, type the name of the business and all the names of the employees who helped on the report.
Summarize the report in the lower right corner of the page. List briefly the objective of the project and the methods used to achieve it. Keep it under three short sentences.
Add a graphic to the page relevant to the project. Push the graphic behind the text or align it beneath the main title. Graphics can include graphs, charts or photos of people or objects related to your project,
Print the cover page on paper stock heavier than used for the rest of your project report. Use a different color stock, if possible. Avoid bright colors such as pink or orange. Choose subtle colors such as beige or light blue.
Staple the cover page in the upper left corner or slide it into a plastic report cover.
