Teach your preschool students about animals that begin with the letter M. Some examples include monkey, moose, mouse and meerkat. Give each student a large cutout of the letter M. Give them cutouts of the heads of animals that begin with the letter M. Give them corresponding cutouts of feet and tails. Tell them to glue the cutout parts to the letter M to create an animal.
The children can also make monsters out of the letter M. Give them cutout eyes and teeth and other items such as claws and tails.
Give each preschooler a large cutout letter M. Also give them an assortment of crafty items, such as glitter, string, pom poms and stickers. Include tiny moon and monkey shapes to reinforce the letter M. The children can then glue the items to the letter M. You can also focus on a theme that relates to the letter M. If you pick a Mardi Gras theme, give the children plenty of shiny green, gold and purple items. You can give them colored feathers, too.
Give the children some items they can use to create the letter M on a piece of paper, such as macaroni or money (pennies). You can get more colorful and use mosaic tiles or marbles. You can also give them items that do not begin with the letter M, like small artificial flowers and beads. Let the children get as creative as they'd like.
Children can transform the letter M into mountains. Give them some leaves to glue onto the picture and plenty of green and brown colors to use. Tell them to use the letter M as the base and not to color over it. Instruct them to use the peaks of the M for the mountain peaks. You can also give them cotton balls to use as clouds in the sky.
They can also use their imaginations and turn the letter M into whatever kind of machine they would like. Give them some springs, nuts and bolts they can glue onto their creation after they are done drawing all the necessary machine parts.
