Introduce a new letter every day. Say the name of the letter, the sound it makes and then show a picture or an object that begins with the letter sound. This will help your preschooler associate the letter with something tangible.
Teach your preschoolers the ABC song. This song teaches each letter of the alphabet in the order they appear on most ABC charts. Buy one of these charts or make your own and point out each letter as you sing the song.
Show various pictures or objects to your preschooler. Ask them to name the object and to name the beginning letter. Sound out the letter and the word with your child.
Record cartoon episodes or buy videos of cartoons that teach letters of the alphabet. Often this type of media entertains a child while educating her at the same time.
Play a game where you say a letter and your child has to find an object or picture that begins with that letter.
Trace a letter of the alphabet with your child to help them learn how to write their ABC's. Consider using a thick crayon or pencil and paper that has the letters pre-printed so you and your child can trace over the letters.
