Summer Camps in Indiana for Girls

Indiana's summer camps range from expensive to economical, religious to secular, athletic to artistic and from coeducational to single gender. A wide variety of camps exist for girls, some with sliding fees and scholarships, so many Indiana girls can find a suitable day camp or residential camp where they can enjoy summertime activities among other girls with similar interests.
  1. Girl Scouts of Central Indiana Summer Camp

    • Residential and day camps give girls opportunities to experience outdoor activities.

Girl Scouts of Central Indiana Summer Camp runs throughout June and July with a variety of day camp and residential camp sessions for girls of all ages.

Day camp is for girls, Scouts and non-members, completing kindergarten through seventh grade. Activities may include craft projects, singing, nature exploration, games, experimenting with science and technology, swimming, hiking and canoeing. Each camp session is a week long, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m, and each week includes an optional Thursday night overnight.

Every year, the Gallahue resident camp offers one- and two-week theme-based camp options, such as Hoofprints for girls in grades five to eight who love horses and like to spend time together learning to ride and care for horses; and Canoe Trek camp, which teaches seventh- through twelfth-grade girls how to paddle canoes during the first week so they can take a week-long canoe trip during the second week.

Various thematic one-week resident camps are also available, including Shutterbugs, Weird Science, Pioneer Women, Girlz Art, Clowning Around and Creative Cooking.

The head women’s tennis coach at Indiana University evaluates all the girls who are then divided into groups of similar ability to learn proper stroke production, footwork and practice habits, as well as conditioning, weight training, stretching and match strategy. Girls can improve their games through extensive drilling and competitive matches.

The campers use Indiana University’s Varsity Tennis Courts and live in a sorority house near the tennis complex.

The girls also enjoy recreational swimming in Indiana's Olympic-size outdoor pool.
