Schools in Fort Knox, Kentucky

Fort Knox is an army installation and training center in Kentucky. It is home to more than 40,000 people, including nonmilitary workers, as well as army personnel and their families. There are two groups through which education can be obtained in Fort Knox. Fort Knox Community Schools, a division of the Kentucky District of the Department of Defense Domestic Dependent Elementary and Secondary Schools, provides schooling for pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The Army Continuing Education System Division offers an extensive choice of post-secondary educational options.
  1. Elementary and Intermediate Schools

    • Fort Knox Community Schools has four elementary schools: Kingsolver Elementary School at 427 Third Ave., Mudge Elementary School at 5373 Paquette St., Pierce Elementary School at 174 Maine St. and Van Voorhis Elementary School at 120 Folger St., Building 5550, Each elementary school accommodates students from pre-kindergarten through third grade. There are two intermediate schools available through Fort Knox Community Schools: Walker Intermediate School at 114 Conroy St. and Macdonald Intermediate School at 128 McCracken St. Both intermediate schools enroll children in fourth through sixth grades.

    Middle and High Schools

    • Fort Knox Community Schools has one middle school and one high school. Scott Middle School is located at 266 Mississippi and serves students in seventh and eighth grades. Students in ninth through twelfth grades attend Fort Knox High School, located at 266 Maine St., Building 7501.

    Post-Secondary Schools in Main Education Center

    • The offices of three schools offering classes at Fort Knox are located in the Main Education Center at 229 Dixie St., Building 1174: Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, Central Texas College and Western Kentucky University. Associate degree programs are offered at both Central Texas College and Elizabethtown Community and Technical College. Central Texas College also offers college certification programs, and Western Kentucky University offers both bachelor's degree and graduate degree programs.

    Post-Secondary Schools in College Annex

    • Building 63 on Quartermaster Street houses the College Annex, and is home to the offices of Eastern Kentucky University, Sullivan University and University of Louisville. Eastern Kentucky University offers associate, bachelor's and graduate degree programs. Sullivan University offers associate and bachelor's degree programs, as well as a Microsoft Network Engineer Certification Program. University of Louisville has programs for bachelor's and graduate degrees.
