Meade County, Kentucky Schools

Meade County Schools, in Kentucky, has seven elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school. In addition to the public schools, the school system has additional programs and services for its residents. Enrichment and adult-education classes are offered in the district as well as several school buildings have a Family Resource Youth Service Center.
  1. Elementary

    • Of the seven public elementary schools in Meade County, students range from pre-kindergarten to sixth grade depending on the site setup structure. The public elementary schools in the county consist of Brandenburg Primary, David T. Wilson Elementary, Flaherty Elementary, Battletown Elementary, Ekron Elementary, Muldraugh Elementary and Payneville Elementary. Extracurricular programs at each site vary and after school tutoring is available. The school district offers preschools at four sites. The elementary buildings are in the cities of Brandenburg, Ekron, Battletown, Muldraugh and Payneville.

    Middle School

    • Stuart Pepper Middle School, located in Brandenburg, serves students in seventh and eighth grade. The school has athletics for its students such as basketball, cheer-leading and football as well as academic and artistic organizations and clubs. The school has more than 700 students and the curriculum includes academic preparation for high school, music and the arts, life skills and career education, health and physical education and leadership training. Stuart Pepper Middle School has computer labs and technology-enhanced classrooms with features such as Internet access, amplification and projectors.

    High School

    • The high school campus in Brandenburg houses the Freshmen Academy, Brandenburg High School and Meade County Alternate Learning Center for students tenth through 12th grade. Students attending Brandenburg High School have a seven-period day and can choose from an extensive list of athletics, organizations and clubs. Activities include the traditional sports along with a dance team and tennis as well as organizations like the Foreign Language Club, Science Club, newspaper, band and chorus.

    College

    • Elizabethtown Community and Technical College is a public, post-secondary school offering college courses at Brandenburg High School. The college is one of 16 in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. Programs offered include associate's degree programs, as well as diploma, and certificate programs, continuing education classes and short-term training opportunities for businesses.
