List of Title I Schools in Lake County, Illinois

The U.S. Department of Education provides Title I funding to school systems that have a high percentage of students who are living at or near the poverty level and thus are at an increased risk of failure. This funding helps lessen the achievement gap between schools located in low and high socio-economic areas. Lake County, Illinois, which consists of nearly 450 square miles and is home to over 700,000 residents, has approximately 35 school districts and over 100 schools.
  1. Zion

    • Zion Public School District #6 administers seven schools that serve nearly 3,000 students. Designated Title I elementary schools in the Zion School District are Beulah Park, East, Elmwood, Shiloh Park and West. Central Junior High is also a Title I school.

    Waukegan

    • Waukegan Public School District #60 administers 27 schools that serve more than 17,000 students. Designated Title I elementary schools in the Waukegan School District are Andrew Cooke Magnet, Carmen-Buckner, Clearview, Glen Flora, Greenwood, Glenwood, HR McCall, Hyde Park, John S. Clark, Little Fort, Lyon Magnet, Oakdale and Washington. Title I middle schools are Daniel Webster, East, Jack Benny, Robert E. Abbott and Thomas Jefferson.

    North Chicago

    • North Chicago Public School District #187 administers nine schools that serve more than 4,000 students. Designated Title I elementary schools in the North Chicago School District are Greenbay, Howard A. Yeager, Marjorie P. Hart, North and South. North Chicago Community High School is also a Title I school.

    Great Lakes

    • Great Lakes Naval Station is similar to a small city, located within the North Chicago Public School District. Forestal Elementary, which serves nearly 500 students in kindergarten through fifth grade, is its only Title I eligible school.
