Public Schools in Lake County, Florida

Lake County is in central Florida and part of the Orlando-Kissimmee Metropolitan Statistical Area. The county has a population of more than 200,000 and has a public school system that has facilities for elementary, middle and high schools. The district offers basic educational classes as well as courses designed for career and technical fields, such as automotive repair and veterinary assisting. The district also offers adult education technical and career courses. Lake County has more than 40 public schools in its district.
  1. Tavares High School

    • Tavares High School, located in the town of Tavares, is for more than 1,300 students in grades 9 through 12. Standard lessons are taught in English, math, science and history. Some subjects also offer advanced placement classes. Students can also take physical education, foreign languages and career and technical courses such as business and drafting. Students can take part in a variety of extracurricular activities including clubs and sports. Some of the on-campus clubs include art, drama, computer, Key club, National Honor Society and the Hi-Q club. Tavares High School's mascot is the bulldog and its sports teams include football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball and softball.

    Eustis High School

    • Eustis High School is located in the town of Eustis and has two campuses to educate it 1,300 plus students. The school's mascot is the panther. The school offers a wide variety of sports teams, including football, basketball, swimming, bowling, golf and tennis. Students also have a variety of clubs to participate in such as theater, environmental, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Future Educators of America. Academics is the main focus of Eustis High School and includes mandatory classes such as science, English and math. Students can also take ROTC, performing arts and visual arts. Some of the Career and Technical Education courses offered include digital design, Web design, television and video production and culinary arts.

    Leesburg High School

    • Leesburg High School, whose mascot is the yellow jacket, is home to more than 1,700 students in grades 9 through 12. Academics include mandatory classes such as English and math, electives such as foreign languages, and career and technical classes such as agritechnology and new media technology. Students interested in athletics have numerous choices including football, tennis, soccer, bowling, cheerleading, track, cross country and weight lifting. Extra curricular activities also include clubs. Art, chorus, drama and Future Business Leaders of America are some of the clubs on campus. The school has some other, more unique club offerings such as world awareness club, multicultural club and triad, which is a service club for girls.
