Founded as the Lake County Area Vocational Technical Center in the 1960s, Lake Technical Center has a main campus, as well as an extension campus called the Institute of Public Safety, where law enforcement and firefighting training is offered. LTC has 28 post-secondary certification programs and two apprentice programs comprising six academic divisions: adult general education, applied technology, business and information technologies, early childhood education, health science education and public safety.

Lake-Sumter Community College was founded in 1962 at Leesburg, Florida. Today, LSCC has two additional campuses in Clermont, also in Lake County, and in Sumterville, Sumter County, to the west. The community college has more than 30 certificate and associate degree programs, some of which are information technology, nursing, education and health information management.

Located about 30 miles east of Lake County, and formerly known as Florida Metropolitan University, the Orlando campus of the vocational education network Everest University has associate degree programs in fields such as business administration, legal studies, medical billing and massage therapy.
