The educational requirements for a career in welding ranges depending on the level of skill that is required. For positions that require skills on the lower end of the spectrum, only a few weeks of school or training on-the-job is required. For positions that require a higher skill level, several combined years of on-the-job training and school is required. These welding schools provide students with various options that meet the educational needs for the position they wish to pursue.
  1. Knight School of Welding

    • Knight School of Welding offers eight welding courses for students to participate and complete. These courses include SMAW stick welding, GMAW MIG welding, GTAW TIG welding, combination welding level four, combination welding level five, PIPE-uphill welding, certified welding inspector training and test code. Classes begin every week and the school is licensed by the Kentucky State Board for Proprietary Education.

    Cal-Trade Welding

    • Cal-Trade Welding School is located in Modesto, California and offers students the opportunity to study at their own pace. In addition to the programs that are offered at this school, if a student needs help with obtain a GED, the school provides assistance with preparation. Five program options are offered in this school which include a blueprint reading course, which issues certification upon completion; a pipe welding program which takes 10 weeks to complete; a structural course which can be completed in 12 weeks; TIG/MIG which can be completed in 12 weeks; and a combination welding program that can be completed in 20 to 22 weeks.

    Tulsa Welding School

    • Tulsa Welding School has been in business for over 60 years with two locations; one location in Tulsa, Oklahoma and the other location in Jacksonville, Florida. Students can become master welders in as little as seven months of study. Three program options are offered in this school and include the master welder program, the structural welder program which can be completed in less than four months and an associate's degree program in welding technology that can be completed in 14 months.

    Illinois Welding School

    • The Illinois Welding School has two locations in the state and offers diploma programs as well as continuing education options. The four diploma programs are production welding specialist, pipe welding specialist, structural welding specialist and pipe welding and structural specialist. The continuing education options are basic and refresher welding programs. Classes are taught be experienced instructors and placement assistance is offered to graduates. Booth rentals are also offered for experienced welders who need space to practice for the welding test.
