Instructions

  1. Tables

    • 1

Estimate of the number of people attending and set up enough tables and chairs to accommodate everyone, plus a few extra.

    • 2

Cover each table with plastic tablecloths. Place a table runner in a contrasting color on each table for extra decoration, if desired.

    • 3

Place potted plants, small flower arrangements or picture frames on each table. These centerpieces can double as special gifts for the team after the banquet, if you have enough for each player.

    • 4

Purchase balloons in the team’s colors and fill them with helium. Tie the ends of the balloons with ribbon and attach to the centerpieces or the backs of the picture frames.

    • 5

Create placemats for each table. Use volleyball terms like bump, set and spike, or the school’s motto or song to customize the placemats for your team.

    Speaking Area

    • 6

Obtain a podium for the awards ceremony or speakers. Place the podium at the front of the room, or on a stage where people can easily see it.

    • 7

Place large silk or potted plants on either side of the podium to create a more defined speaking area, especially if the room does not have a stage.

    • 8

Set up enough chairs to accommodate the coaches and school personnel who will be speaking or handing out awards.

    • 9

Set up a small table to hold any trophies, medals or certificates that may be handed out at the banquet.

    Other Areas

    • 10

Create a collage with photos and newspaper articles. Apply tape or glue to the back of each photo and attach it to a poster board. Include captions that identify the people in the photo and other important information.

    • 11

Display any team trophies or awards on a small table near the collages.

    • 12

Attach temporary adhesive hooks to the walls of the room. Hang the team’s jerseys from coat hangers and display them on the hooks around the room.

    • 13

Set up tables for beverages and food and cover with plastic tablecloths. Attach a table skirt to the food tables, if desired.
