Ideas for School Election Campaign Posters for Athletics

Colleges and some high schools have athletic organizations that work to promote, fund and help improve athletic programs at the schools. Depending upon the school, there can be an athletic advisory council or an athletic club for students to join. Members of these organizations vote for other members to take on the roles of president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.
  1. Athletic Equipment

    • Promote both the athletics program and your run for an elected position on the athletic board by making a poster featuring different sporting equipment. Poster ideas can include a basketball, football, volleyball, tennis racquet or football field. Add a catchy slogan that relates to your sport and position you are campaigning for. For example, if you play football your slogan can be “Do not pass on voting for Jim for Athletic Advisory Council President.”

    10 Ways

    • A poster showing 10 ways a sport is like the Athletic Advisory Council is a way to show your sense of humor and the excitement you have for the position you are running for. Think of this as similar to a top 10 list that can be printed on posters and hung up around campus. For example, your 10 list for tennis would be something like, “Ten ways the Athletic Club is like tennis: 1 - The debates go back and forth; 2 - Though we may not agree there is always love; 3 - When I win the election I promise to jump the net.”

    Running

    • As a member of the track team you could make your campaign poster look like a track field with you running across the finish line. Or, if you are a member of the football team, make your poster look like a football field with you running the winning touchdown. Write your campaign slogan across the top of the poster. For example, your slogan can be “I am running to keep our school’s athletic program. Support a winning team and vote for me as secretary of the Athletic Advisory Board.”

    Cheerleader

    • Many sports have cheerleaders chanting and cheering the team to victory. Use a similar concept for your campaign posters by having pictures of cheerleaders jumping in the air or building a pyramid. At the top of the page write something like “Two, four, six, eight. Vote for Jim and don’t be late.” At the bottom you can write, “Cheering to improve the Athletic Board by electing me vice president.”
