Host a day clinic or weekend camp for elementary and middle school girls. Have drill team members create a variety of exercises, lessons and routines to teach to the campers. You can end the day clinic or weekend camp with a performance or presentation in which the campers can perform a routine for their family and friends. Not only will you earn money from camp participation fees, but you will also engage the community with the drill team and publicize their activities.
For each show or event that the drill team puts on, create a program. You can sell advertising space in the program to local businesses and restaurants. Not only will these businesses benefit from increased advertising, but the drill team will earn 100 percent of the advertising fees as well.
Host a dinner and silent auction at the school. Have members of the drill team talk with local businesses and restaurants to find prize and meal donations. Spaghetti is an easy and cost-effective meal that can be complemented with bread and dessert donations. When seeking prize donations, look for gift certificates, handcrafted items or themed baskets that are appealing to a wide audience. Encourage business by reminding them that they are not only supporting the team, but also receiving an advertisement opportunity. Sell tickets to the event for a reasonable price and give away the donated gifts through a silent auction.
Fundraise with a classic car wash. Find a high traffic location, such as a big box store, gas station or parking lot near a busy street, and obtain permission to host the event there. Because your car wash may bring business to nearby stores, discuss the possibility of a "match donation" being given by the store. Businesses may be willing to match your profits which can make this event especially profitable. Rather than listing a price for the car wash, simply request a minimum donation of about $5. Those who would like to give more won't feel limited by a set price. Play some music, to draw in a fun loving (and generous) crowd.
