Fundraising Ideas for Volleyball

Every school is given a specific amount of money each year to spend on sports teams; this number is based on the school's budget. Sports that pull in the most money from ticket sales are usually given more money from the budget. Volleyball teams may get enough money to buy new uniforms and attend away games but not enough to attend a tournament or buy other things the team needs. Hosting a volleyball-themed fundraiser helps the team earn money and gets the parents and teachers involved.
  1. Volleyball Scratch Cards

    • Volleyball scratch cards are similar to scratch-off lottery tickets. Each ticket contains a series of dots, and people scratch off any two dots they choose. This reveals the total amount they donate. The prices range from a few dollars to a $100 donation. The tickets also come with coupons to restaurants and movie theaters. Several companies offer generic discount cards, but Easy Fundraising Ideas has information on ordering volleyball-themed cards. Players can market the cards to their parents, friends, teachers and community members.

    Teachers vs. Players

    • Host a volleyball game in the school gym that pits players against teachers. Even students who don't follow the volleyball team may turn out just to watch their teachers play. Advertise the event in the school newspaper and with signs around the school. Encourage parents to attend as well. Sell tickets to the event for one price, and accept donations at the game. Depending on your community and the number of teams you have, you can even turn the event into a tournament. Have a local celebrity team, a junior varsity team or even let the football team play against the volleyball team.

    Food Fundraising

    • Sell food at the next volleyball game or ask about manning the refreshment booth during a basketball or football game. The proceeds from all sales go back to helping the volleyball team. Include cupcakes and sugar cookies decorated like volleyballs, volleyball suckers and any other themed snacks you can find. Buy cheap soda, bottled water and other snacks from a warehouse club and offer those items for around double the price. Alternatively, host a large bake sale at the school and work with other teams that need money. Divide the total amount made among all the teams that participated or give each team its own booth.
